Biological/Functional activity & target protein
Antihypertensive activity

Single oral administration (30 mg/kg body weight) to spontaneously hypertensive rats showed RALP to be an effective hypotensive agent with maximum blood pressure reduction of -16.66 ± 8.57 mmHg at 2 h (p < 0.05). The peptide displayed acute effects of antihypertensive compared to the commercial antihypertensive drug, captopril (10 mg/kg bw), which possessed a maximum decrease of blood pressure (-23.43 ± 6.56 mmHg) 6 h after oral administration (p < 0.05).
