(1) The antioxidative activity of the peptide WL against the peroxidation of linoleic acid was determined in vitro, using the 1,3-diethyl-2-thiobarbituric acid method and the peptide showed 29.7% antioxidative activity. (2) The peptide WL can't protect U3-1 cells against τ-BOOH-induced
oxidative stress in vitro. The trypan blue dye exclusion assay was used
to measure cell viability. Cell viability was significantly decreased in
the control (39.2%) and in the sample treated with carnosine (41%)
after τ-BOOH treatment. When Trp-Leu was added to the
medium, it had no effect on rates of cell death. |
