Antiviral activity

The peptide was activite against Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1); Neither peptide EDLIWK (264-269) nor peptide ADRDQYELL (222-230), obtained by chemical synthesis, displayed inhibitory effect when separately tested. The antiviral activity towards HSV-1 was observed when peptide EDLIWK was tested in a 1:1 stoichiometric association with peptide ADRDQYELL, suggesting that the presence of both peptides was required to prevent HSV-1 infection.
