Biological/Functional activity & target protein
Penetrate blood-barin barrier The Tyr-MIF-1 (Tyr-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2) is transported across the blood-brain barrier in the direction of brain to blood by a carrier-mediated system referred to as peptide transport system (PTS)-1 [1].

Preparation method
Mode of preparation Separation
Enzyme(s)/starter culture The bovine hypothalamic tissue was heated to inactivate enzymes, homogenized, and centrifuged at high speed to remove large substances. Other proteins were removed in the early fractions obtained from gel filtration of the extract on a Sephadex G-10 column in 0.02 M acetic acid, 0.002% sodium azide.

Additional information
Additional information The Tyr-MIF-1 can enter the brain from the blood to a greater extent than does albumin, but that this penetration does not involve a saturable system [2].
