Chicken brains were extracted by boiling in water, followed by acidification with acetic acid to 0.5 M. The extracts were centrifuged and supernatants concentrated by adsorption to C18 Sep-pak cartridges (Waters Associates), elution with acetonitrile and lyophilization.
