Enzyme(s)/starter culture

Brains (one hundred, mixed sex) and (separately) corpora cardiaca-corpora allata (CC-CA) (25 gland pairs for each sex) were dissected from adult T. molitor and placed into Eppendorf tubes containing ice-cold 100% methanol. All tissues were infused at room temperature for 15–30 min, and then removed and subsequently re-extracted in 0.1% (v/v) trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
